
"Against the Current," Quilt
Award Winning Artist
Evelyn Chan is an award winning artist gaining recognition at regional and national levels for her thoughtful, socially engaged work. She is a two-time 2nd Place Senior Division winner of the Minoru Yasui Legacy Project Student Art Contest (2023 and 2024), with both pieces now on display in The Yasui Family: An American Story exhibit at the Oregon Historical Society (2025–2026).
In the 2024 and 2025 Regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, Evelyn's art has been honored multiple times with 1 Gold Key, 2 Silver Keys, and 2 Honorable Mentions. (Region-at-Large West)
In 2025, Evelyn won Oregon District 3 in the U.S. Congressional Art Competition with "Against the Current" — a quilt made from hand-designed, screen-printed fabric. Her piece is on display in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol until June, 2026.
